Resort activities destroying Sipadan corals and marine life

The ecosystem of the diving mecca of Sipadan Island would be worse off had the Malaysian Government not ordered all resort owners to vacate the island effective Jan. 1, this year.

Sabah Parks Director Datuk Lamri Ali said chemical effluents from washing detergents and soap were noted to have caused an impact on the corals and bivalves such as sea snails.
